A huge store for all Electricals and many more.
Went in for a piece of tile for the bathroom. Came out with mallomars , frozen bacon. Some candy. A sponge A cabinet for the laundry room a fan for the bathroom with heat dimmable lights and blue tooth. A floor warmer for bathroom under the new flooring. And a brush This place has everything. Oh dog food. I bought some dog food too.
Employees are great. Prices much better than Home Depot. Go next door for groceries (cheaper next door, or go to Walmart for even less). Knocked a star off because their POS system seems to love to place MULTIPLE pending charges on my CC. So pay cash or use apple pay here (FINALLY) if you dont want that issue.
We picked up a new washing machine last Saturday afternoon, August 19th, and the process was very organized and easy. We were highly impressed with how Terrance greeted us as soon as we pulled up and how quickly and easily he loaded the washer into our van for us. He was friendly and helpful. Kudos to him!
Vince and another associate ( I didn't get his name unfortunately) were very helpful yesterday with locating an item that wasn't on the sales floor yet. Awesome customer service!!!
I'd like to share an experience that I had recently at this Menards. My wife found an electric fireplace there that she thought was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately when we opened the box after getting it home, we discovered that quality wise- it wasn't so perfect. It had some defects with the finishing and some of the wood pieces were splintered on the edges. We returned it to the store for an exchange and the helpful folks in customer service and the plumbing department brought another fireplace up front for us and even let us open the box at our request to see if there were any visible problems with it. Unfortunately this box also had parts inside which had defects, so we decided to get a refund and head home. The next day we wanted to give things another try so we went to the Carpentersville Menards to check for the same fireplace there as they had more in stock, and we hoped maybe they may have arrived to the store in better shape. We experienced great service in Carpentersville, too, as they let us open the box and have a look before we took it home. Everything looked good this time so we loaded it into the car and we were on our way. After unboxing it at home all of the pieces looked great except for one part: the glass pane that goes on the front of the fireplace. It had some deep scratches in the glass. Realizing that we had just returned a defective fireplace to the Elgin Menards not even 24 hours earlier, I decided to return there with the defective glass pane to see if they would let me swap it out for the one included with the defective fireplace. We had not inspected that part from the initial defective box so I thought maybe there was a chance it was good. Long story short, they pulled the defective box we returned from receiving, and allowed me to open it up and get the glass pane. It was perfect- no scratches, no issues. I headed home with it and my wife and I finished putting together the electric fireplace that now sits in my living room in front of me as I type this.
Totally unmatched customer service. I don't think I've ever experienced this sort of thing at another store like I have at Menards. Thanks for being a cut above!
Fair amount of people in each department ready to help out. This place has a huge load of materials for home improvement and such. Would recommend on getting the key essentials and try not to go for the side items that not involved with home improvement. Obviously there are some cool stuff to distract your eyes, but there are some products that just fail on you.
Recently I inadvertently left my cell-phone in the electrical department. Employee was especially helpful in helping me locate it. Pics show recent home improvement.

Staff here is their best feature! Every person we've met has been beyond helpful and knowledgeable.When we bought new blinds, the staff member who helped us gave us insights into the choices in stock and how to measure for custom width adjustments. When we needed concrete repair for a small yard ornament, the clerk talked through what issue we had and explained what products might work best; didn't just steer us to the most expensive product as some stores do. When we ask a question about the location of an item, the person who helps will answer your question, escort you to that location, and stay to make sure you've found what you wanted. Great customer service!!
Local delivery of big items seemed a little pricey to us. It was almost $100 to have a bulky box of self-assemble lawn furniture delivered less than 2 miles away. Now that we know, next time we will just rent a truck for an hour and haul it ourselves.
They have lots of 11% off sales. This is a rebate, not a discounted price or cash refund. You have to mail in the form and that portion of your receipt. It usually takes 2 months to receive the rebate (which can only be used in a Menards location). After receiving only 2 of 3 rebates we submitted in plenty of time before deadlines, we now complete the forms in blue ink. Issues with rebates are a corporate problem, not the fault of this store.
Unfortunately I was very bad treated by the a very rude manager..I supposed to buy a camping chair, I took it from the shelves, when I got to the cashier the price was wrong .. we called the manager I showed to him the price on the shelves .
Then he just told them price was a mistake … “if you don’t want to pay the correct price, just don’t buy it.”
Congratulation to Menars to have hired people like this… Home Depot.. here we go..
